It's 1:30 AM

Oh man, so a friend calls from Georgia at 1:30 AM (it's 4:30 AM there)

And makes a conference call
With 4 people.

who are all conveniently up.

Hawk and Quail both participated in this early morning chat, and Hawk described this conversation as:

"It's sort of like when you're in a bathroom that kind of echoes and you're all in separate stalls and you're talking to each other and it's kind of awkward."

I love you Hawk xD.
Now let's get you to Ikea.

Tonight's Challenge..

To eat Asian jelly with a fork until I feel like sleeping.

Quail seems determined that I should see IKEA before I die (and in these troubled times, that could be any day.)

So look forward to an account of that..sometime.

I have an idea, let's go to Ikea!

Quail has a new camera! Yay!

And yes, Quail is ashamed of Hawk for never going to Ikea. SHAAAAAME.
Hawk thought Ikea was "just like Macy's, but with furniture, right?"

Hopeless girl. We shall change that soon enough.

FIND TIME TO GO TO IKEA AND GET A RIDE DAMMIT.

And next weeks is "All the projects are due!" week, which means after that week, I have nothing except a math final. Wheeeee!

Oh and
Quail is growing carrots : D
Very happy making time.

Spontaneity is key

So, one May day, in a galaxy far far away from semester-end projects, cons, and impending doom/finals...

Two birds were having a conversation during the allotted 30 minutes (which is NOT 30 minutes if one needs to relieve oneself and thus wastes 17 of those 30 minutes standing in line in a stinky, unaerated water closet -_-) of consumption. Upon learning that Hawk had never been to IKEA, Quail was horrified and turned her feathery back upon the other. The amity between the two seemed to be unrepairable. But once the shock wore off, Quail was recovered enough to rattle off a list of driving directions.

However, Hawk is directionally challenged and will need a GPS to get out of her driveway once she bestirs her feathery butt enough to get her permit/license.

Never one to be deterred, Quail declared that the two were going to IKEA "right now."

We made it across the school and into the parking lot before the bell rang.

It's moments like these that make high school worth it ^_^.

Updates and conposts

Oh dear, it's been far too long since my last post. Seriously.

So, some updates on life
Post APs was actually busier than Pre APs, but with stuff that I actually enjoy doing :D
I think I spent more time hanging out out of the house in that week than I have in the past few months.
Pool parties and movie hopping and ADVENTURES oh my!

I cleaned my room and the garage!
(but now my room is horribly messy again....)

Oh, and I decided to cosplay with a friend on a whim for FANIMECON 2008. Fun times

So we cosplayed Simon (post and pre timeskip) from Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann
That involved
getting a sewing machine
buying fabric
making clothes
attention span
etc.

Twas very fun. I actually made something! Filled with jank and randomness. Held together by duct tape and questionable stitching.
Amazingly enough, both were wearable and held up through the con (though my jacket was starting to tear in a few places) It was quite the portable sauna, though. Silly unbreathable pleather/sofa stuff.

Anyway, I don't know what I've turned into. Really; cosplaying. At an anime convention. My brother professed disbelief and a desire not to be related to me. Ah well, may as well enjoy myself before my vacationing logical side shows up.
But my brother likes cereal shaped like bunnies, so I don't know what he's talking about.

Con picture of a bunch of TTGL cosplayers, both the cosplays I made included:

And now since it's late and I'm tired and the screen is swimming interestingly, I suppose I shall retire to bed now.

PS. There was a group of evangelical christians protesting and preaching outside the con with a huge sign that said "TURN TO JESUS OR BURN IN HELL". Then Jesus showed up.

They managed to garner quite a crowd of rowdy types, which ended up getting rick-rolled
Here's a video of it (Don't worry, you guys can turn the sound down, since it's hard to hear the rickrolling anyway):
Jesus is never gonna give you up

Happy Dance to the Max!

So my keyboard was broken for a while and I had trouble typing "a"s.
Sucks when you need to write an essay. Plus "a" is like the most commonly letter used in the English language D:.

Anyway, enough with the excuses! I am posting NOW!

And I've just had the most awesome week ever.

I realized that I've put myself through hell ever since about the middle of February. I've pretty much had nonstop weeks of weekend competitions and events and commitments. But now school is ending in four weeks and AP tests are done!

Hence I started partying this week, beginning Tuesday afternoon!
It was amazing. You wouldn't think that going to Fry's to pick up a keyboard could turn into an afternoon of park-bopping and creek exploring. Plus going into the Palo Alto sewers to whistle and dance and listen to the awesome ensuing echoes.
An experience on Wednesday made me think about mortality for a bit, but that was soon lost in the blur of watching an Americanized Chinese movie with grafted animal sound effects and plenty of Jackie Chan and Jet Li kickassery. That was followed by watching the American real-life equivalent of a mecha anime and stomping it out playing DDR in a nearly empty theater.
As the weather heated up, so did we...so we jumped into a pool on Thursday afternoon. On Friday at Great America, I went on my first ever roller coaster!

Yes, my first ever. Not like I've never been to a theme park before, but I was too short to ride Indiana Jones in Disneyland when I was young. ~tear~ But wow. I kind of don't regret it. For a first ride, Top Gun (or "Flight Deck" as they now call it) was insane. I wanted to get off as soon as we went down the first hill. Closing my eyes didn't help much either. It wasn't actually the RIDE that scared me. The speed was fine. What got me was how I felt like I was going to FALL OFF THE STUPID THING. Yes, it hasn't happened before but strange things always seem to happen to me :(. And I had the same sensation on Orbit, which is pretty much a Ferris wheel gone insane. I was sliding all over the bench and even though the little car was closed, going upside down like that is not a good feeling. The water rides were amazing though! The lines were long and the rides were short with maybe 5 seconds of actual fun, but getting wet mitigated the heat well.

Yet a downside to the week is how much having fun involves eating junk. Now that swim season is over and it's too incredibly hot to exercise of my own accord, I've really got to watch it.

Heading off to Davis in 5 weeks :).

BREAK THROUGH THE DREAM

I am so hyper right now. So hyper. I am bouncing up and down and sideways and flailing like a flailing quail should.

Great music does that to you. Even not so great music, when you're in the mood.

In other news, AP testing looms ever nearer this week. HOWEVER! That also means that the post-AP party is approaching just as fast!

Hiatus until then, yes?
