Truffles, Asparagus Gruyere tart, Watermelon lime punch

I haven't posted for too long, but I have been making food, in addition to getting my act together. Roundup of the week:

Truffles, which ended up much soupier than expected, so they had to be served frozen and were more like frozen balls of extremely rich chocolate ice cream (no complaints here)

Watermelon lime mint punch, which was pretty pulpy but quite delicious! The watermelon wasn't as flavorful as I would have liked, but it was still good with sparkling water mixed in.

Asparagus Swiss tart (there was no gruyere at the grocery store, unfortunately)
The puff pastry made this quite delicious and also quite oily. It was all worth it, though.

In other news, I may start a daily sketch portion of the blog for the foreseeable future. Stay tuned!

Of Vermicelli and Pho

As part of our weekly activities, this Thursday we went out to find a place that would sell Pho. Of course, the only reason I go to Pho places is to eat the vermicelli noodles in fish sauce. That and the bean sprouts.

Bean sprouts are heavenly.

At any rate, Pho was eaten.

And then Lemon Meringue pie was shared.

And then a small Japanese store was shopped at.

Finally, Rockband was played.

All in all a pretty awesome day.

Jolly good, wot wot?

So, today I have one of those dinner parties to help with.

You know, one of those. The ones where your parents say "Let's invite a few friends over for Chinese New Year. It'll be fun!"

Except they neglect to mention that a few = 6, and each one is bringing a family, for a total of 26 people.

I don't know how Blondie does all her party planning business without going absolutely INSANE.

Well, I have another minute of rest before helping out with cooking and cleaning and setting up the garage for gaming. Oh boy oh boy!

On a side note, I've been starting some commissions. Exciting stuff! :3
